GFRIEND increase their hype by dropping the highlight medley for ‘回: Song of the Sirens’ + release a sultry and horror inspired 1st MV teaser for ‘Apple’!
On July 8th, GFRIEND dropped the highlight medley for their 9th mini album, ‘回: Song of the Sirens’. Just two days later, the group released the 1st MV teaser for its title track, ‘Apple’. Check them out down below!
GFRIEND ‘回: SONG OF THE SIRENS’ HIGHLIGHT MEDLEY + ‘APPLE’ MV TEASER 1:
Listening to the highlight medley, the album will contain a combination of upbeat tracks such as ‘Snow Time’ (literal translation), ‘Tarot Cards’ and ‘Crème Brûlée’, as well as slower more emotional track such as ‘Mirror’s Room’ (literal translation) and ‘Northern Stair’ (literal translation). With regards to the title track, ‘Apple’ starts out with an electric bass before we hear clicks in the background and the members singing in harmony. By the end of its teasing, the track sounds like it is building up to a drop.
Some of the members have participated in the composition of lyrics or arrangement of a few tracks. These include:
- Umji and Yuju for ‘Snow Time’
- Eunha, Umji and Yuju for ‘Tarot Cards’
- Eunha and Yuju for title track, ‘Apple’
Moving on to the first MV teaser for ‘Apple’, there is a duality of themes going on. We first see Yerin laying on the floor in a beautiful puffy dress, surrounded by flowers. Then, we cut to a dark shot of a flower petal dropping into a glass of red wine before we see a shot of the group sitting and standing poised in the darkness. Consequently, there are shots of the members interacting with flowers including Eunha eating one as all of them stun with sultry visuals in a golden hall with a large dining table in the middle of it. Yuju‘s eyes are covered by the members before the final shot reveals the members sitting behind each other in the darkness, tying each other’s hair. The background music, supposedly from the title track has a sexy and classy feel to it with the bass and synths used.
GFRIEND‘s 9th mini album, ‘回: Song of the Sirens’ and the title track MV for ‘Apple’, will be released on July 13th, 6PM KST!
